May 2020 Boxycharm: Mother Nature

May was definitely a crazy and stressful month. Luckily I always have my Boxycharm to take my mind off of things, even if it’s just for ten minutes. Like last month, my May box did arrive a bit later than usual due to the pandemic restrictions. However, I’m just really glad that it arrived safely. So without further ado, let’s jump into the goodies I received in my May 2020 Boxycharm!

My May 2020 Boxycharm features five full-size products – two skincare and three makeup products. To be honest, I wasn’t the most excited about the products in my May box. The only products I’m excited to try are the two skincare ones, one of which was my choice item.

Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads (MSRP $59)

This was my choice product for May and also the product I’m most excited to try. I’ve received Elemis products in my previous boxes, and I absolutely LOVE their products. I’m a huge fan of exfoliating facial pads, and I’ve heard so many amazing things about these ones from Elemis, so I cannot wait to try these out.

Tarte Micellar Magic Makeup Remover & Cleanser (MSRP $18)

Another product I’m really excited for is the Tarte Micellar Water. Whether I’m using it to remove my makeup or just as a mid-day cleanse, I always reach for micellar water. Tarte has some really good skincare products (I’m obsessed with their Hyaluronic H2O Serum), so I have really high expectations for this one.

Studio Makeup Ease to Wear Eyeshadow Palette (MSRP $35)

I’m not going to lie, I’m definitely feeling underwhelmed with this palette. I already have so many neutral palettes that I feel like this would just get lost in my collection.

This palette reminds me of my beloved Urban Decay Naked Reloaded palette, but the quality of the shadows just can’t compete with that of the Naked Reloaded. At first glance, these shadows lack in pigmentation and the matte shades are a bit patchy. I’ll continue to test this palette out, and if my opinions change, I’ll be sure to update you all on my Instagram.

Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer (MSRP $22)

I love trying new eyeshadow primers since I heavily depend on them. Having oily and hooded eyes, my shadows tend to transfer and crease all over the place, so I’m curious to see if this primer will do the trick. The formula claims to absorb excess oil, and be smudge-proof, crease-proof, and fade-proof.

I used the primer to swatch the Studio Makeup palette, and from my swatches, you can clearly see that the shadows’ pigmentation is significantly better with the primer.

May 2020 Boxycharm: Appeal Cosmetics Ultra Creme Liquid Lipstick
Appeal Cosmetics Ultra Creme Liquid Lipstick (MSRP $21)

Throughout the years, I’ve begun to stray away from liquid lips and have opted for a more natural and glossy lip. However, I’m always down to try new liquid lip formulas, especially since this one claims to stay comfy on the lips for the entire day (a rather ambitious claim imo). The shade I received (Next Level) isn’t one that I would typically reach for, so I don’t know how much wear I’d get out of this.

That’s it for my first impressions on my May 2020 Boxycharm. Unfortunately, my June Boxyluxe still hasn’t arrived yet, so that blogpost will come a little later than usual. Thank you for your patience!
